Another Gift of a Day

5.25.2013

We started out our day by playing a bit in the dirt.  I got Zoey busy making a fairy garden which she had so much fun doing, I love how her garden turned out.

Here is a close-up of the finished garden.  We put it underneath our Fairy Crossing sign in the yard.

Zoey is planning on leaving little treasures in the garden every day for the fairies.

The little fairy and the fairy signs were found at Stoney Creek (a local flower and landscaping shop) and the sea shells and stones were found at our dollar store.  The acorn hats and moss were in our yard.

While Zoey was busy with her fairy garden I got busy with potting some flowers.

It was really nice to dig in the dirt and work a bit with my hands.  I could feel myself getting happier and happier by the minute as I worked.  Working with my hands has always been therapeutic for me.

After all the plants were potted it was time to plant the sunflowers!  We troweled the dirt and added some soil and planted the seeds.  Zoey did most of it...it was kind of her project and she was happy about that!

She found several big, fat worms as she worked which was a perk!

Here are some random shots around the yard and at the plants that are blooming...

After our gardening and yard projects it was time to go for a bike ride on the Bearskin Trail again. This time we all went as a family and went for a bit of a longer one.

It was the perfect day, the sun was shining and there was a bit of a breeze so we didn't get too hot.

Upon returning home we hung out in the yard again...we brought Leo out so he could hang out with us too.

Then we enjoyed dinner outside and had a fire.  Love days like this.  Love, love, love them!

My heart is full today.  I have so much to be thankful for.

A Much Needed Day Here...

5.24.2013

Life has been a little extra crazy here this week. My car decided to call it quits on me (or rather, need some pretty pricey fixes which we're thinking aren't worth what's left of the life of the car) so that threw a bit of a wrench in things. It actually threw me pretty close to the edge actually since I've been stressing about other things here and the car was just the thing that brought me close to losing it. Thankfully some time, sleep and perspective put me back in my place pretty quick! That and some sunshine and some free time! Today I had off of work and I spent it gathering my flowers, getting some potting spoil, cleaning out the pots and getting them ready for some planting! I'm planning on spending the better part of tomorrow playing in the dirt with Zoey. I picked up some items from the dollar store today for Zoey to make a fairy garden while I do some planting and transplanting of things. I cannot wait.

Ethan's mom got me some flowers last weekend and then I picked up some more today at Ace while getting the potting soil and Zoey's fairy garden items (the dollar store is connected to our hardware store).

After I got all organized for our project tomorrow I went and picked Zoey up from school and we went for a bike ride on the Bearskin Trail. It's so nice living so close to the trail...it's something that we might take for granted at times.

I shot a little clip of Zoey riding on the trail one handed while biking myself...I can't believe I didn't topple over!

It felt so good getting out and enjoying the day with Zoey this way!

Afterwards Zoey and I enjoyed some ice tea...a favorite!

Today was the perfect day.  I needed it.  So happy to start our long weekend this way.
